Insomnia Radio #7 for 11-14-2k4

Amidst a sleeping household, HCI Radio #7 was recorded late last night, and is guaranteed to inspire even the most tone-deaf people to sing along. Clocking in at 34 minutes with minimal talking and maximum rocking. The show has been posted, so go grab it. This is most likely the last weekly show I will produce. Reality keeps rearing it's ugly head, and a 60 minute show will be coming at you twice a month from here on out.

Thanks for tuning in everyone. Let me know your thoughts.

  • Hello, must we have a username and password for the BitTorrents now? If so, could you email the info to me please?

Well maybe, this problem doesn't exist with the newsfeed so I'll try that.

I would check but it's down again.

Keep up the great work, I was just surprised with the difference in BT's between show sixteen and seventeen.

  • I know I have no right to complain but there's some script running on your blog that slows down the Firefox browser. It's okay since Firefox asks me if I'd like to stop it from loading.

Just letting you know and please keep up the great work. Two shows each month would be great, but don't worry about it if you're busy. One show for one month, three for another, you're the boss.

  • I also use Firefox and haven't noticed any slowdown or been alerted to a script trying to run. Strange.

Also, you should not be required to enter a username and password to access the torrent, ONLY for our tracker.

If you continue having troubles, lemme know. Thanks for listening!

  • oh my god. I just might have to buy the steve burns cd (your anonymous artist.) I'd heard this was good, but didn't believe it.

you know, it just goes to prove not all of us who have worked in children's entertainment are evil. I used to work for the purple dinosaur. steve used to work for the blue dog. I feel better now. thanks.

  • DAMMIT AC :-) be fair, Mike Schwartz was the first to tell me who our mystery artist was, and AC was the first to make it public. Thanks for listening guys.
SO gang, the secret is out. Put your shoes on, grab your wallet, head down to your local indie record shop and go buy "Music for Dustmites" by the one and only Steve Burns. He used to work for a little blue dog named Blue :-)

  • Whassup? I started using Doppler to get your show and it comes down as a bit torrent? It won't work in Doppler, my Bit Tornado comes up and wants it. Why not just make it a simple mp3? None of the other 15 feeds I have in Doppler do this. Thought you'd like to know. The show rocks.

  • MrSharkAttack;
Thanks for the comment, and for listening.
Here's my answer to why I refuse to post HCIRadio in mp3 form. In the last month, my show has pushed over 40GB out the door. That's a ton, and way more than I would have ever expected. Instead of drowning in bandwidth bills, the community spreads it around for free. I realize that torrents are rougher around the edges as far as podcasting integration (Doppler included)and it was tough to go from mp3 to torrents after the 2nd show. But I'm urging the developers to put more emphasis on torrent-fed podcasts, because I guarantee you that it WILL be catching on. After all, it costs nothing.

Does Doppler support torrents? If so is it just a matter of right clicking the torrent file and opening with Doppler instead of BitTornado? I know FeedDemon is offering podcast support very soon. Exciting stuff...

Shoot me an email if you want to carry this discussion further...don't want to bore the podience...

  • So strange that I'm the only one complaining about not being able to download the latest show.

The other day, a LOGIN box showed up asking me for a username and password. (I guess my normal BT installation isn't enough for this site. I can download 500 MB tv shows but not Hardcore Insomnia?)

Now, I can't even duplicate the annoying-LOGIN box because the link goes to a No Page To Display.

Oh well, I'll move on to to the other podcasts. Maybe I'll check back every month or two to see if the problem has vanished.

By Blogger Aaron, at 8:35 AM

  • Sorry, I thought BT was universal but I'll install your kind of BT. Hopefully, there will be one BT for everyone before it gets shut down because this is a real pain.

By Blogger Aaron, at 8:43 AM

  • How come I'm getting a login/password box when I click the BT link?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:52 PM

  • OK! The login/password problem is FIXED. It was completely my bad, and I sincerely apologize. 10, no hard feelings? Everyone else...sorry it took so long to straighten it out.

  • On to another topic (I'm not here to complain about torrent).

I think you may have misattributed the opening of the podoshpere for Brad Sucks to Adam Curry - the first place I heard it was on Evil Genius Chronicles (here).

The first ref I see at is here.

    Thought you'd like to know....

  • Also, BTW, I listen to your show but don't regularly listen to the DSC.

By Blogger kinrowan, at 1:37 PM

  • No hard feelings. I was more frustrated by not being able to explain a tech problem.

Take care and I look forward to your two -- or so -- shows each month.

    Thanks again,
